Fresh Picks From The Pumpkin Patch

Did you know pumpkins are a member of the Cucurbita family of squash and cucumbers? The varieties seem to be endless, from “One Too Many” (which looks like a bloodshot eye) to Cinderella (we all know where that name comes from) to White, Ghirardelli, Acorn, Mushroom and Big Mac, to name a few.

Mollie Stone’s carries as many as we can find – up to 10 varieties! Our pumpkins are sourced locally from Pescadero, Suisun Valley and Brentwood; our trucks go directly into the fields and haul back 36,000 pounds of pumpkins weekly. Each year, we have a “Guess my weight and take me home” contest, where we display a pumpkin in excess of 90 lbs with a ballot box – so come in and take a guess to win a Big Mac.

We have pumpkin carving tools if you want to carve a Jack O’Lantern for your front porch. Pumpkins are rich in Vitamin A, potassium and fiber, so bring a few pumpkins home for the kitchen too!  Browse our pumpkin recipes here.
