With so many new summer fruits emerging, it can be hard to choose which ones to try. Plumcots (also known as pluots) are an interesting hybrid cross between plums and apricots. There are many different varieties available in a rainbow of colors throughout the summer. Our friends at Family Tree Farms, a premier California grower of plumcots, highlighted a few available this July.
1. Family Tree Plumogranate: Similar to pomegranates, this signature variety has a sweet, intense taste and is very high in antioxidants. They’re not only delicious, but good for you.
2. Golden Treat: This variety lives up to its name with a subtle golden/green skin with yellow flesh, and light plum and honey flavor. It’s the perfect sweet treat for any time of the day.
3. Dapple Fire: Sometimes called a nectacotum, these contain nectarine along with the plum and apricot. The result is a subtle nectarine flavor and a slightly firmer texture.
