The leaves are turning and Oktoberfest is here! Kiley, our Craft Beer Expert, picked his three favorite beers to drink this Fall.
Hofbräu Oktoberfest, Hofbräuhaus, Munich, Germany
This beer is brewed especially for the Munich, Germany Oktoberfest event each Fall. It’s a rich, full-bodied beer, brewed from pure water, the best quality malt and exquisite hops. It tastes clean with a crisp edge. Hofbräu imports the same beer, from the same batches that are made for its tent at the Oktoberfest.
Smashed Pumpkin, Shipyard Brewing Co., Portland, ME
9.0 % ABV
Smashed Pumpkin is a big bodied beer with a light coppery orange color and pleasing aroma of pumpkin and nutmeg. Pale Ale, Wheat and Light Munich malts combine with the natural tannin in pumpkin and the delicate spiciness of Saphir and Hallertau Hops to balance the sweetness of the fruit. It’s only available August through October.
Punkin Ale, Dogfish Head Craft Brewery, Milton, DE
7.0 % ABV
Punkin Ale is a full-bodied brown ale with smooth hints of pumpkin and brown sugar. Dogfish Head brews their Punkin Ale with pumpkin meat, brown sugar and spices. As the season cools, this is the perfect beer to warm up with. It’s released in limited quantities every September and is usually gone by Thanksgiving.
