Read on to learn about the history of this dynamic company:
Clif Bar was born on a bike. Founder Gary Erickson found that he needed a more substantial energy bar for his long distance bike rides, and went into the kitchen with his mother to experiment. He finally settled on a satisfactory recipe, and Clif Bar (named after his father Clifford) was launched in 1992. Now, their line spans an array of bars from Luna Bars specially formulated for women, to Clif Kid Z Bars, organic baked whole grain snacks to keep kids satisfied and healthy. They use primarily organic ingredients, and are constantly researching recipes that will provide their customers with the energy and nutrition they need for an active lifestyle.
Headquartered out of a new LEED Platinum certified state of the art facility in Emeryville, Clif Bar has remained family and employee owned. They operate by their Five Aspirations business model: Business, Brands, People, Community, and the Planet. Clif Bar began with Gary Erickson’s “epiphany” to create nutritious bars for athletes, and continues to promote a sustainable way of life.

Fitness is a huge part of Clif Bar’s philosophy, and they have their own rock climbing wall to promote employee exercise.
