Mollie Stone’s Markets second collaboration with Palo Alto Brewing Co. are proud to bring you our refreshing golden German-style Pilsner Purity Pils.
Just like the name says, our Pils is made in accordance of “Reinheitsgebot” [Rine Heights Ge-Boat] the German Beer Purity Law.
What is the German Beer Purity Law?
Introduced in 1516 in Bavaria, the decree allows for beer to be made from only hops, barley, water and, later, yeast. For over 500 years, this recipe has served Bavaria very well, and for the rest of Germany during the last century.
This decree had three major goals in mind: to protect bier drinkers from overpriced libations; to prevent the use of wheat in beer so it could be used for the making of bread; and to stop unruly brewers from adding toxic or and even sometimes hallucinogenic materials as preservatives or flavorings.
Because of this German Beer Law’s longevity, Reinheitsgebot is now considered the world’s oldest and valid food safety and consumer protection legislation.
