Independence Day is not the only time of year for fireworks. Here are two sparkling wines that are sure to make your Valentine’s Day twinkle!
Louis Bouillot Brut Rose has long been one of our favorite sparkling wines. Louis Bouillot was founded in 1877 in a little village nestled in the heart of the Cote d’Or (Hill of Gold) in Burgundy, France. This Perle d’Aurose (Pearl of the Dawn) is made from 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Gamay grapes. The result is an aromatic dry rose made in the method traditionelle and bottle fermentation for 24 months.
Muscat is all the rage this year, and we have found a real darling in Charles De Fere Muscat. In 1980, 6th generation winemaker Jean-Louis started his own sparkling winery just outside Champagne and named it in honor of his son Charles. While there are many styles of Sparkling Muscat, or as the Italians call it Moscato, this is a superb example of the winemaker’s art. Produced from 100% Muscat (most are not), the wine is a beautiful shade of golden yellow with a complex, powerful bouquet of white flowers and exotic fruits. You will find this wine fresh and well-balanced – perfect with desserts or on its own.
